3 Piece and a Biscuit!

After looking at this pic more and more, there's 3 things that stand out to me that have to be fixed.

1) The trigger guard needs filled in.
2) I need a new front sight, I hate the one Engler made, He didn't even use the real BAR front sight that I sent him, so I ordered a new one and I'm gonna do it myself.
3) The mag needs about 3/4 in - 1 inch cut off the top to make it appear smaller. The actual BAR mag went up into the BAR much more, leaving less of it hanging out the bottom. So I'm going to be working on that. Probably over the Christmas break.

I'm also going to get to touch everything up that needs painted since I got that spray paint in.

So you sent him a real sight, he didn't use it, and he didn't even send it back to you?

Thats poor if you ask me.

Ok. I felt creative tonight and the BAR front sight came in finally. So I put down Black Ops in an effort to fix up the BAR a little more.
Heres what I did:
1) Cut and reshaped the front sight to tightly fit over the Flasc Barrel.
2) Shortened the mag considerably. I think I shortened it about a 1/4th-1/2 in too much due to a miscalculation. I may buy a new one..I may not. My next step is to make an area for the air piece. Im going to hold off on re-painting everything until I figure out what to do with the mag. Oddly enough, the hacked off mag and the original front sight lightened the BAR a bit.

Sooo...my next couple things I plan on doing (aside from maybe getting another mag)

1) Attempt to find a real BAR front sight hood and mount it to the front sight.
2) Have someone (Engler..or whoever has the means too) make me a custom trigger guard out of high quality plastic..not metal(this will be interesting...)
3) Perhaps try and find a real BAR Bi-pod for a reasonable price and mount it to a Flasc 3 inch extension.

Thoughts? Tips? Recommendations? Im trying to get as historically accurate as possible with this thing. My next project will be touching up the Thompson..I already got a Cyclone and RT for it. That was just for performance..its time to work on the looks.

Trigger guard his hurting the look, but once you get that fixed up it will be baller. The cover that goes over the back of the gun and the stock could use some smoothing out too, but that is just being picky. Looks so much better than when you got it for sure though.

Looks a lot better for sure!

As to my thoughts on your questions:

Why not a metal trigger guard?  If you'd get something milled into the "L" shape and BJ weld it into the trigger frame, sand it and paint it, I think you'd have a nice piece.  A milled piece of AL will be a lot stronger then a bent piece of metal.  I think it'd be a really simple thing to do, but I'd have to look at it first.

If it were mine I wouldn't get a bi-pod.  Guys took the bi-pods off to save weight and just ran with them as rifles.

I think mag looks good now, I dont think you cut too much off.

I think I'd fill in the nameplate with JB weld and smooth it over.  Then I'd make pieces out of Al to look like the cocking mechanism and secure it to the side.

Once again, Its looking really good!

JJ, if you want, I can make that trigger guard look a whole lot better for less. Get a pound of black apoxiesculpt and I will mold/sculpt the back half of that trigger guard to your liking.

Thanks for the feedback. I might nix the bi-pod, you are correct. Most troops ditched the bi-pod because it was heavy and the legs kept coming loose. I am going to be moving the nameplate to the front of the magwell. It'll still be there..just not stand out like it does now.  Here's what I'm trying to achieve

Here's what I would like it to look like..

I wonder if this is something O'Lane could do?

That'd work, Reference the pic above. Do you think you could do that?

I got the air fitting in nice and snug, its barley showing on the bottom of the mag. Good stuff. That trigger guard is annoying me like crazy though
