I've looked and admired the Phenom and There is one thing with it that drives me insane. That would be it's magwell and it's puny looking magazine. I'm thinking that the next generation of this marker needs to be redesigned to be a bit more modder/ aesthetic friendly.

The Internals are good and should stay but the mag needs to go. I was thinking that they should do away with the fixed magwell and have it attached to the trigger kinda like the lower receiver of the M16/M4 familt of small arms. With that idea, they could make several versions of it so you can change the trigger and magwell to an M16 to an AK style which would allow the use of real AK mags or an MP5 style for those that like their SMG styles.

Aside from that, I know that this marker is reliable and effective just like it's older brother.

Any thoughts or comments.

Tippmann is making an M4 magwell to accept their M16/M4 mags and the AK mag.

That would be cool to have swappable trigger frame/magwell combos to match the grip and trigger to the mag of the particular gun.  That always bothers me seeing an M4'ed up Tippmann then the 45 frame of the 98 or MP5 grip of the A-5, and whatnot.  If you're doing an M4 style marker, the grip should be correct.  Hence my MR-1 M16.  It was just a matter of changing the trigger frame and bolting on the grip to get the M16 grip.

That's what I mean and it's not just a cosmetic thing in the case of the Phenom. But I will say that the so called cosmetics of a marker dose contribute to the markers handling, weight, and the users ability to come down on target quickly.

2003 actually, that's the last time we've seen noticable change in marker design.  Since then, everything mid to high end has been a descendant of one of two families, spool vs poppit.

The phenom is actually a nice direction.  I dislike heavy milsim anymore, but I really aprpeciate the design.  It's like a new generation of automag in terms of function.

I'm interested to see what happens in the future with this sport.  I really like some of the products coming up from small companies and machine shops.  Tom Kayes Shoebox compressor is really neat, I'm waiting for the next run to get a 3k model.  The AV-1 Falcon is ingenious, I just sold my Series 5 so I can get one on the first production run.  The DVR revolver is badass too, but not my style.  I like seeing these new markers popping up.

I think from the big boys not much will change - you'll get more spoolie clones and more poppit clones, bleck.  I'd love to see some more high end mechs make it, but I'm happy just to see the rise in Tac Ones and custom autocockers at fields Smiley
