Guns Have basically platoed in performance around 2004-2005. Mabe even before that. Now all we get are cosmetic changes.
2003 actually, that's the last time we've seen noticable change in marker design. Since then, everything mid to high end has been a descendant of one of two families, spool vs poppit.
The phenom is actually a nice direction. I dislike heavy milsim anymore, but I really aprpeciate the design. It's like a new generation of automag in terms of function.
I'm interested to see what happens in the future with this sport. I really like some of the products coming up from small companies and machine shops. Tom Kayes Shoebox compressor is really neat, I'm waiting for the next run to get a 3k model. The AV-1 Falcon is ingenious, I just sold my Series 5 so I can get one on the first production run. The DVR revolver is badass too, but not my style. I like seeing these new markers popping up.
I think from the big boys not much will change - you'll get more spoolie clones and more poppit clones, bleck. I'd love to see some more high end mechs make it, but I'm happy just to see the rise in Tac Ones and custom autocockers at fields
