THE STORY:
After the fall of the Soviet Union, the Russian government abandoned many subsidized factories and facilities. A chemical plant located in the Caucusus was one such casualty. Years passed until this factory was purchased by the Umbrella Corporation and retrofitted with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment to become the Umbrella Caucusus Research Facility. It is now headquarters of Sergei Vladmir, one of Umbrella's most prominent leaders and a former Red Army Colonel.
Scraps of evidence collected from Umbrella's evil private island are traced to operations performed by the Caucusus Research Facility, including the sale of bio-organic weapons (B.O.W.s) on the black market. In response, a private bio-terrorism unit raided the facility discovering a front for conducting secret experiments and mass production of B.O.W.s. It is believed none of the unit survived the raid, but their desperate and final communications confirmed suspicions: The facility is of critical importance to Umbrella as it maintains an extensive research, development, and production program allowing the corporation to sell their bio-weapons in secrecy. Incomplete raid intel hinted at a well protected and expansive underground laboratory.
Over the past few years, former STARS members founded and trained new teams of specialists known as the "Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance" (BSAA). The BSAA Network employs a wide variety of skilled personnel and advanced technology that are prepared to respond to biohazard threats all over the world. In October 2010, the newest BSAA Team is assembled for deployment in Russia to infiltrate and destroy the Umbrella Caucusus Research Facility.
