Don't get me wrong - the Garg is a phenomenal marker... Exceptional design, attention to detail, fit and finish, etc.

It's just personal preference.  Let me explain...

I picked up a like-new 90's era Carter Buzzard from a guy in Hawaii in '01 or '02, and absolutely loved the thing.  I made the mistake of parting with it a year or two later.  I know I owned it in '03, because Jason and I went to TRP for a rec day, and we ended up on opposing teams, at least for a game or two.  During one such game, we both ran up the same tape line at each other, as it turned out, and ended up in a shootout.  I bounced a shot off of him with the Buzzard and he hit me with a ball from my own '03 Viking.  Bastard.  But anyways...

For years, that marker has been my measuring stick for all other stock class guns, and nothing else has felt as good in my hands.  Purely personal preference here.  I've had a handful of Phantoms, a new Ghost, various brass pieces, etc.  All nice guns, but they just didn't have the feel I was looking for.  I'm really OCD about marker condition - my stuff has to be in wallhanger condition - so I never came across another used one worth picking up.  I should have just taken the plunge and ordered a new Carter from the man himself, but the significant wait time was something of a deterrent.

I had been wanting to pick up a Gargoyle since Rodney debuted them last year - it looked like it had a viable shot to fill my stock class void.  I finally bought one a month or two ago, and still haven't used it.  Heh.  Just a week or two after splurging on the Gargoyle, this Mini-Buzzard came up for sale at a great price from a very reputable MCB member.  It was built last year and had never been used.  I couldn't resist.  While the Garg is a very fine marker, and I am extremely impressed with it, when I opened the box the Mini-Buzzard came in, assembled it and held it in my hands, it felt like coming home.  Shooting the Mini-Buzzard at the Turkey Bowl game was confirmation that it was the SC gun for me.

As for how the Garg feels, to me it feels like a refined, polished, well-broken-in Phantom.  Slightly heftier.  I've put a 12ie through it to get a feel for the pump stroke and ensure that it was perfect functionally, but haven't shot any paint yet.  I actually sent off the stock barrel for Freak boring and am expecting it back this week some time.  The frame feels a bit tall, but it's probably just where the grip holes are tapped.  The humpback is comfy, and the slider trigger is great.  Length is just right (for me) with a CCI L-stock.  It's a very good gun, and I'd keep it if I were made of money, but I really don't need two SC markers right now.

Well, I paid $675 for the gun, plus the CCI stock, plus getting the barrel bored for Freak inserts (it's in the mail on the way back to me).  It's all brand new, never used.  I haven't decided on an asking price yet, mostly because I don't really want to think about the money I'm going to lose on this one, but also because I'm waiting for the barrel to come back before I list it for sale.  If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'm sure we can work something out.

Loving that buzzard. I saw that for sale when I was scouring MCB for my Buzzard purchase. I wasnt a fan of the color scheme though; color looks sick, just not something I would personally play with. I love my Buzzard, just wish it had the Carter Machine engraviong on the side. Very nice collection of markers!

If you are married your wife deservs an award for the most understanding wife EVER! I though my wife was awesome but she might be alittle ticked if I had that much money tied up in guns. Allthough I have had so meny guns that when I get a new one she never notices.

Hehe... I was mostly kidding... My current spike of markers notwithstanding (it will be resolved soon enough via sales), I tend to maintain a fairly consistent monetary investment in my gear (i.e. if i buy something, i generally sell something else).
