Write-up:

The day was a pretty even battle most of the day, at least from my point of view.  Going into the final battle if we would have held 2 out of the 3 flag stations we would have won the game, however we only were able to hold 1 and ended up losing the day.  I got to play with a bunch of random people throughout the day and it was a great time, there are some good teams that play down here so it makes me look forward to Fulda even more because of it.

Even though I didn't have the greatest day playing pump, I will say that at the start of the game we went to hold a flag station and my first shot eliminated someone, so I was pretty dang happy about that one.

Some things that I really liked about the day:  The missions were all to take and hold an objective for a certain amount of time, I really enjoyed because of the fact that I went to this game to get out and play and I was just looking to shoot people so that was enjoyable for me for this event (if it were a game that I was looking to get into this may not have been something I enjoyed as much).  The center of the field had a tower in it, and whoever held that tower got a second insertion point at the center of the field, so there were tough battles at that part of the field all day so that was fun.  The use of role players were important (medics, snipers, engineers) and changed the flow of the game multiple times.  Finally, the reffing staff was on top of things and the sportsmanship and stand up play were great as well.

Some things that I didn't like so much:  Reinsertion, while I enjoyed the opportunity to have the neutral reinsertion point and everything, you could tag back in as soon as you were eliminated and then just rejoin play.  I would have much rather seen a timed reinsertion like most games I have been too (every 15 minutes usually) as that actually gives a team that is pushing hard a chance to take some ground rather than having to constantly fight off people that were just elminated.  The sniper card, it was brutal, basically if you were a sniper you had a card that gave 15 eliminations.  What you had to do was have someone within your line of sight and tell the ref you wanted to snipe that person and they were elminated.  I like the concept, I would rather have them change the role around a little where the sniper card only has 5 elminations or that the sniper has to actually be able to see a player out in the open for a certain amount of time before he can call for the elination.

So that was it, it was a great day and I was glad to just get out and play some and meet some players from down here.

Overall:

Awesome event.  I had a ton of fun and had a blast playing with some teams that are going to be on NATO this year for Fulda Gap.  Also got to play again some pretty good teams as well, so it was a great day.

I got some footage, I will have to edit it and send it to JJ so he can post it up.  I actually got meet some people who are subscribers to our youtube channel and said they really enjoyed it and everything.  They were also very excited to see FEAR down in the south.

I have also come to the sad realization.  I am a less than average at playing pump, haha.  It sucks, I just am not able to steady the marker while pumping it and completely throws off my aim.  Something to work on, and I am definitely not giving up on it.  But when I finally switched to the droid in the afternoon I was simply mowing people down with it (by the way, the Droid is absolutely ridiculous and I am so glad I picked one up and I will do a full review on it when I am not exhausted as well).

But that was it, overall it was a great day and I am glad I got to meet up with some players down here and play a new field.

Updated first post finally.

I would say that the event probably had around 200 players on the field at one time.  I think the total count was in the high 200's but there were always some people off the field or that left early.

I can understand it if the reinsertion points are a decent walk away from the center of the field but i mean you could get there within 5 minutes if walking so it is a constant flow of players back and forth which makes it hard to mount any kind of pushes.

I could understand if you had the first hour constant reinsertion to allow players to get on the field if they come in late but then put it to every 15 mins with a 5 min window so the most anyone is ever waiting is 10 minutes.

Also, the VMAX is awesome.  I didn't have one problem with it all day, even when i was ramping on the droid at 12.5 bps
