I was on facebook and saw Wolf posted up an article and video of a 15 year old boy that was the victim of a shooting by a paintball gun. The boy  that was shot was lucky that he didn't lose his eye. This attack was just random and not on any field.

I can care less what style or form of paintball you play. It doesn't matter if your armature or hardcore. Actions like this ruin the reputation of the game period. I for one feel that it's like actions like this and other acts by ignorant people that ruin the sport in general.

hate to see anyone be assaulted, but how is this any different than somebody being hit with a baseball bat?

These kind of people have no regard for anything and go with convenience. As part of a grater paintball community, we have to spread the word that stuff like this dose not represent those that play this game.

Too many people see the word paintball gun and feel that is the reason that this incident happened.

You are never going to change someones perception about a paintball gun, no matter who you reach out to help you spread the word.  There are people out there that automatically assume that because a marker was involved that was the reason it happened.  It obviously isn't right but everyone will have their own opinion and some of them are completely mistaken.

It doesn't make a difference whether the boy was shot with a paintball gun, hit with a baseball bat or any other sporting object, he was still assaulted.  It is a terrible incident and I hope they catch whoever was involved and he is punished accordingly, but it shouldn't give a black eye to our sport.

People mention that paintball will never be looked upon with good eyes in that community again.  Well, I feel terrible for them, because they are taking away some peoples enjoyment and companionship with others.  If it was a baseball bat, would they talk about disbanding baseball all around the community?  No, but that is just people's misconception to our game.

I'd like to add on to this one Shorts with a few things. I will admit that their are those that will look down on paintball regardless just because of the type of markers we use. I'll bet that the shooters were just some dumb kids that don't even play paintball regularly or were just looking for some cheap thrills. I will say that your right that it gave this sport a black eye in that community. The question is now, how do you fix something like that down the road.

You can't fix it ... because you can't change peoples psyche and how they treat others.

Like I said, you put just about any object in the right persons hand and it will become a weapon.  That will never change, there is never going to be all good people in the world.
