UWL creates an event series for players on any level to enjoy competitive woodsball.

January 30, 2009 – The Ultimate Woodsball League, online at www.PlayUWL.com, is proud to announce its inaugural season of ten-man woodsball action. Conceived to offer players on every skill level, with every level of equipment, an exciting competitive paintball experience on wooded fields of play, the Ultimate Woodsball League brings the very best of tournament paintball to the world of scenario and woodsball.

Featuring an in-depth but simple and all-encompassing rulebook that allows for players with any type of paintball gun to compete on a level playing field, Ultimate Woodsball League events will be played on fields featuring two bases and two objectives. Teams will compete to capture the two objectives and their opponent’s base, and to hold both their own, receiving one point for each minute each objective is held. This format will enable teams to create in-depth strategies for capturing whichever objectives they see fit, rather than simply forcing the opposing teams to slug it out over a single, mid-field objective as is the case in other tactical leagues. For a complete field map along with rules and more information on the Ultimate Woodsball League, visit the league’s official website at www.PlayUWL.com.

2009 UWL Schedule of Events
April 25 – 26 California SC Village
May 16 – 17 Illinois Badlandz?
June 5 – 6 Oklahoma D-Day?
July 18 - 19 South Carolina Adventure Beach?
August 1 – 2 California SC Village?
August 29 – 30 Pennsylvania Three Rivers?
September 12 – 13 Texas Cousins Paintball
October 3 – 4 Florida XPX

About the Ultimate Woodsball League: The UWL was founded by Tom Cole, long time team captain and owner of Bad Company. Tom developed the UWL to create a vehicle for paintball teams to compete in the woods. The league is designed for scenario teams, old school 10-man teams, and anyone who wants to play paintball the way it was meant to be played.

Registration for the inaugural events of the Ultimate Woodsball League opens March 10, 2009.

Only thing is you need 10 people to compete. I dunno if we can get that kinda attendance. Even if we could they have very strict gun, hopper, and paintball rules which would make it hard for some people to play even if they wanted to.

That and I don't know what entry fees would be. Still might be worth checking out though, or seeing if TRP needs help reffing or anything like that for the day.

I heard they are dropping the marker restrictions and instead using a paint limit per player (2 140 pods plus hopper, one player (heavy gunner) gets unlimited paint).  I think I read $65 per person somewhere, but BYOP.  Don't quote me on any of that.  Just hearsay.

Probably through a contract between the UWL and TRP. each registered team is dropping $650 or more on registration, so Im sure that they pay TRP to host the event and UWL gets to use their rules. If I have monies later in the year (and it doesnt interfere with playing in a shopping mall in Canada) Im totally in.

I've been an active participant on their forums, they are still developing the rules so expect some changes.  There will still be classes it looks like and instead of marker restrictions, I think you'll see some classes have hopper restrictions.  Yes, it is BYOP and entrance will be $65/player.  It should be a LOT of fun if implemented properly. Expect some clarification on the rules this week, Tom Cole is in Atl meeting on the rules right now actually.  We will be there for sure so I hope you guys can make it, it's really nice to see tournament paitball go abck to the woods and emphsize tactics over BPS.  I'd love to play the 11th man with a SC Phantom.

Hey F.E.A.R.,

I REALLY think you guys should make this event.  It's big time and will be getting a lot of press and national coverage - you can really network and push yourselves into a national spotlight.  I'm going to cover a few things here...

It's $65 a person and BYOP, so you can pick up cases from anywhere.  Shop around and you can find good paint for $30-$40/case.  There are two divisions, the open class wich has few restrictions, and skills.  We'll be in skills and as of now, it still has a 7 man mech requirement.  It MIGHT change to allow blind electros and a paint cap - but I won't know that until sometime tomorrow.  Regardless, I know you guys have tippmanns and automags laying arund.  The captain, heavy, and scout can still use electros in semi. If not, you can always go open class.

Now, roster size.  It's a 10 man event with an 11th man as a sniper.,  I know you guys don't have as many members as we do, BUT there are some sponosored players of the UWL looking for teams to hook up with for the events.  I know of one in particular that I recomended you guys to.  OR you could maybe grab some guys like Brian from TR to use for just that one event.  Heck, even talk to the MM crew.  Jackson would make a good sniper position!  We actually have Sean from MVP in one of our ranger spots and Cuda as our sniper.

It's going to be an awesome event, and they will be nationally ranking teams and players based off performance.  The classes are cool, and allow for a lot of tactics.  ie the scout gets a 10 second head start, etc...  With 4 bases, points are accrued for every minute you hold a base.  Games will be 30 minutes long with reinsertions every 10 minutes.

Just some thoughts.  I'm not saying all of this to simply promote the UWL because they sponsor us, I'm saying it because I have a tremendous amount of respect for you all and your sportsmanship and I'd like you all to get some of the antional spotlight that you deserve.  If I had to pick any team other than BoB to be a part of I'd want it to be F.E.A.R..  I hope you guys can make it, and if you have any questions about the league lmk and I'll answer it to the best of my ability.
