I can has automagz?

« on: July 10, 2008, 06:21:28 PM »

I've owned multiples of pretty much ever kind on mag over the years, the 68 automag is no exception. It's a mag, can take a beating and won't let you down...here's the skinny...

Looks - Autoags typically come stock in a blasted grey PF or SF body with a carbon fiber gripframe. It isn't the most attractive marker in the world. There are a ton of things you can do to make it purdy though. Splash kits, gripframes and polished or ULE bodies are all great on these.  Minimags have pretty cool bodies that are ported by the barrel and micromags have nice milled aluminum bodies.

Performance - It's a mag. If you're unfamiliar with mags it is rediculiously reliable and durable. The classic valve will get you average efficiency, nothing to write home about, and is very consistant. It has a descent recharge rate and you can achieve low-mid teens as far as ROF goes with a little trigger practice and an upgraded gripframe. It will work well if properly setup on CO2 as well as HPA. It is a well balanced marker and feels very solid, it is hard to find a better quality marker than AGD.  All of these markers share this valve.

Maintenance - Rediculiously easy markers to maintain. One thumbscrew and you can remove the entire valve/bolt assembly to clean/lube. Another allen screw and the gripframe/rail/body come apart. There isn't much that can go wrong with these, an oring is usually the only thing you ever see go bad over time in these.

Value - Mags in general have a pretty sturdy resale value and even if you buy one brand new, it will outlive you. I'd call that a worthwhile investment.

It should also be mentioned that there are a slew of aftermarket upgrades for any type of mag from bodies to gripframes to rails and valves so you can customize your marker to fit your own play style.

**The pro classic can fall under this as well, although I did a seperate review on another forum for it so I copied and pasted that here.**

Umm Mag goodness, you just can't go wrong with a Mag. I think if AGD would do a little advertising and make a gun that was a little more flashy they could make a huge comeback. I don't mean anything to fancy but just add some more stock color options and update the stock grips or something.
I mean look at how much people are freaking out about how awesome the SP1's bolt is. Mags have been doing that for years....

If you come across some one that can buy it now don't hold it for me...it might be a lil while before I get the extra cash.

I don't really plan on selling it, unless I come across a pretty good deal for it.  So when you want it, I'll sell it to you.
