I have a gently used J&J Edge Elite barrel kit for an A5/X7 that I want to get rid of.
The top of the line Edge System to make you the Elite player. You'll be able to shoot every brand of paint on the market with complete accuracy. With 5 control bores(.682, .685, .688, .691 & .693) and 3 fronts of your choice. There is no need to worry that you wont have the ultimate barrel system.
Asking $80 shipped and paypal'd

i took a look at some images of the edge barrel kit on line... and the fancy lengths don't really make a difference. sure the barrel to ball match will help accuracy, but it looks as though with the edge you really only have about 4 inches of affective barrel length.(portion of barrel with no ports) So how is this essentially 4 or 5 inch barrel so accurate?

First off thanks Chris for posting.
For your first statement about the "Fancy" lengths not doing anything, you have to realize what players use longer barrels for. Do they use them to get more accuracy or distance? In a word no. The longest barrel you need for the gas in the barrel to fully expand before the ball leaves is 12 inchs. Anything more and you need to turn your velocity up to achieve 280 FPS when compared to a 12 inch barrel. What many people DO use a longer barrel for is pushing air bunkers back. By having a longer barrel you can stay tucked further into your bunker and use the barrel to push the bunker out of your way to see and shot. This still gives you the view you need, but the enemy less of you to shoot at. You will always have the crazy "Paintball Snipers" who think their 21 inch barrel can shoot you a mile away. You can't get rid of them, but longer barrels do still have a use.
Now the next topic, effective barrel length. Which for those that don't know is the amount of barrel there is before there is porting. This is what is used to expand the gas and get the ball traveling 280 FPS. 8 inches of effective barrel length is about all you need to get the gas expanded fully and the ball upto 280 FPS. I know, I know...didn't you say above you need 12 inches? No, I said you needed a 12 inch barrel, 8 of which is effective and then 4 inches of porting to help the balls accuracy and lower the sound. Anything bigger and that's when you see a change in velocity. As for J&J barrels they use somewhere between 5-6 inches, so the pictures maybe a bit deceiving. So to run these barrels you are going to have to turn up the velocity on your gun a little to get it to fire 280 FPS. IN turn this will give you a couple less shots per fill. So why then does J&J give thier barrels so much porting? They want the barrel to be accurate. Porting reduces the built up pressure in front of and behind of the ball right before it leaves the end of the barrel. This helps reduce any turbulence. All this porting ensure that when the ball leaves the barrel there is not a huge air hammer behind the ball that is going to just fling the ball any direction when it leaves. When the balls leaves the barrel there is no turbulance and the ball sails gently out the front door. All this porting also has a good side effect. It gives you the quietest barrel you can get. Some people want quiet.
To help out with the barrels accuracy they have also coated the inside of the barrel with a ceramic material that makes it super smooth. Thus, giving the ball little to no friction as it goes through the barrel. This process also gives the barrel a couple more good side effects. The first one is the barrel is super light, but still very durable. The second is the barrel is so smooth it can shoot through breaks. After you break a ball you are back to near full accuracy after about 3 or 4 shots. How you might ask? The inside is so smooth that the air going through the barrel pushes all the broken paint down the barrel and out all the porting! Another reason J&J loves their porting so much.
So to sum this up why is this barrel so accurate? It has a super smooth ceramic inside that shoots through barrel breaks. It has lots of porting to reduce turbulance on the ball and ensure the ball leaves the barrel going straight. Which in turn also helps the barrel clean itself. It is super light and very quiet. Is it the perfect barrel then? No. As I said the down side of having all this porting is that you loose some effective barrel length. Is that the end of the world? Again, no. All you have to do to get the ball going 280 FPS again is turn the velocity up on your gun a little. This will give you a few less shots per fill, but for as nice as this barrel is it's worth it.
